1. Many who were invited to this forum were from previous websites that were terminated way before the plot lines were over. Many of these members know exactly how to work proboards and can use it with ease. However, many of their friends, family, or fellow writers that they invite may not know how exactly a role play or proboards works.
This is no longer the responsibility of the staff. Time, effort, and examples have been provided in the past and were met with no results since the new members couldn’t find the help sections. It is the job of the member who invites their friend to teach them exactly how to use the forum and how to role-play properly.
2. That being said, if a new member suddenly admires another more advanced role player, it is perfectly fine for that new member to request a practice role play so that they may learn a few tricks to the trade and gain experience.
Please note however that some advanced members might not have time or want to teach others and those new members should not be discouraged by their request getting denied. It is not a personal attack on the new member for inexperience or age.
3. There is no rule that banishes a member who is young and / or inexperienced. All are welcomed. However, proboards the actual web forum host will not allow members of 13 yrs of age or younger to join, so please do not invite those who are that young. If proboards catches a member who is under aged, the website as a whole will be deleted. This is due to the adult content the site itself will have since many members are between 15 and 40 years of age, with the majority of our members between the ages of 20 and 28.
4. We have many members of various ages, beliefs, and skills. Please do not be offended by a role play if someone’s character does not agree with yours. Try to avoid such sensitive topics like religion, government, and abortion unless it is a part of the plot and your characters.
If you use a character as a mouth piece, (as in your character has the same beliefs as you), then do not use that character unless you have another character who has the opposite beliefs as you.
We do not want characters at each other’s throats if and only if the owners/members of those characters are suddenly at each other’s throats in the instant chat box below.
5. Everything is allowed on these forums.
Blood, gore, religions, government politics, incest, rape, murder, sex, birth, cursing… it is all allowed. But I will not allow such topics on the open and publish boards.
All rps with sensitive topics will be moved to the Mature Rp thread if you do not wish to rp those scenes privately over the private message system. We are here to grow as writers, but not every topic is for others more sensitive to the subject matter.
6. This brings attention to the threads themselves.
If you create a thread to rp in, you MUST label it PUBLIC or PRIVATE.
You must list in the very first post the Setting, (including time of day, place, season, and weather), and who you’ve invited to join the rp if it’s PRIVATE.
If it’s PUBLIC and people join, you must edit the first post and list in what order these members joined.
YOU MUST ASK TO JOIN BEFORE POSTING!!
Do NOT skip someone’s turn and keep the pattern the same so everyone has a turn and may reply to what the other characters did. If a member does not post after two weeks, they will be skipped. If they are unable to post due to dis-intrest or unable to think of a reply, they may post –skip- instead of posting at all.
If a thread has been inactive for a month, it will get a warning. If the thread is not saved after another month it will be locked and set into the archived inactive sub-board. This does not count if the rp is on hold due to the member being on leave.
7. Attendance is key. You must notify Pariah if you’ll be away, be it a personal matter you do not wish to disclose or a vacation. Please Personal Message (PM) Pariah so she may list it in the attendance thread and make an announcement about it. Their rps will be put on hold.
8. Stay on topic / genre.
Example: Do not make an anthro on the feral boards. Do not power play,(take control of someone else’s character), or God Mock, (be untouchable, invincible, and all powerful / all knowing).
If you have read someone else’s characters chart, do not let your character be all knowing about said character. If I said my horse Furst Frost was in a horrible accident years ago, do not think that your character she just met or even has history with know automatically.
9. Canon characters are first come first serve.
However, some canon characters can be doubled up.
Example: If I rp as Link from the Legend of Zelda; Ocarina of Time…then another member can rp as Link form The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
